Modern dollhouse wallpapers
I prefer modern miniatures. Most miniature furniture and wallpapers you’ll find online are designed for Victorian old mansions, old fashion farms and French miniature boudoirs.
I would find endearing a suffragette dollhouse, a Woman who Farm miniature garden, and Ninon de l’enclos writing room, but it’s not usually the subject of these miniature styles.
I prefer something more free and happy, in modern style, describing the life of women who have modern rights. Modern dollhouse aren’t so common even if they are fashionable : I get sometimes quite frustrated trying to find accessories.
But I’m a maker and a painter: I design my own favourite little things, cute, modern, and whimsical.
This holiday season I will share with you a few things I created just for myself, that you can use to update your little abode, or create your own, modern and happy one.
I recently found online a few mid century modern chairs at different scales, almost as many miniature cats, and decided to make shadow boxes to display my treasures. I posted the picture above while playing with some patterns I created, and friends were super enthusiastic about it, especially Nadine from the delightfully kawaiiii and modern @sparklecious on Instagram. I hesitated on sharing these wallpapers only with her actually, but I recon other friends would have fun with this so here we are.
Let me explain how this works: when I plan a shadow box or a room box, I print my floor ( yes I painted the floor too) and the wallpaper on the same sheet, fold it and put all my little furniture in this makeshift shadowbox to see if everything will fit nicely together. Then I modify the pattern, print some more, fiddle a little bit, and when I’m happy I print everything on good “presentation paper” which is more white and thicker than your usual computer paper. It make it easier to glue it on cardboard or wood.
So you’ll find in this printable, for personal use only ( no redistribution, no selling of any kind, contact me if interested), my exact little sheets with a floor, and the wallpapers I like these days : the little doe pattern which is so much fun, this mods flower paper I’m working with these days, and a little, more subdued surprise, a millenium pink pattern I created for my own life in real size, but could use in the end (the glue was damaging the walls. Nothing wrong with the wallpaper).
for copyrights reasons, I’ve signed the papers on the lower part of the walls. Add a little baseboard an it should hidden. The wood floor should work from scale 1:18 to 1:12 and the wallpapers too. Print smaller or bigger if necessary, and mesure your baseboard, windows and such accordingly.
The cat and chairs on the photo are 1:12, more or less.
