Pattern and iPhone Background

I spent a LOT of time recently trying to make ditsy florals. From the eighteen century Indienne to the moderne Liberty of London, floral patterns are part of my culture. I'd love to use them in my art, but I would rather create my own than use someone's else. Even if I could find a copyright free one! The geometry and repeat is a tough one to do.  I created a lozenge of ditsy flowers, then repeated it and flipped it in Photoshop, redrawing the tiny flowers bit by bit until they fit.

It started with something like this:

And then I repeated and mirrored it in a rectangle. For you Photoshop experts : I created a lozenge in five layers (one for each color), grouped them , made a smart layer out of it , then repeated it 3 times it using the mirror function and the offset filter.  Because I duplicated the smart object, each transformation was echoed in the other layers automatically, thus saving a generous amount of time . Anyway, a lot of painful work, but  totally worth the pain.

I'm happy to share one of the result, a classic red ditsy floral!  I'm not sure I will use it a lot, but I love it. You can use the pattern on personal, non commercial projects. Please don't use it in illustrations? Thanks. I also made a fun iPhone 4 wall paper out of it, enjoy!

Ouuuh il n'a pas été facile celui-là. Ca fait longtemps que je fais des patterns, vous trouverez même un tutoriel ici pour faire quelque chose de similaire. Ben oui, 2006 tout de même. Cette fois ci j'ai travaillé avec un losange plus trapu, et la répétition est parfaite, un travail de moine...Je vous prête volontiers mon pattern floral pour usage personnel et non commercial, et non, non et non, n'essayez pas de l'utiliser dans vos illustrations, je commence à être connue, ça va se savoir...

Bon tant que j'y suis, j'en ai fait un fond pour l'iPhone, parceque j'adore casser l'effet high tech avec des  bidouilleries vintage. Mon enveloppe de téléphone a un nounours dessiné dessus, que je brandis fièrement à chaque fois que je fais une photo...Et vous ? Vous avez un téléphone sérieux ou pas du tout?
